Hi, I'm Matthew
I'm a software engineer with 8 years of hands-on experience in the escape room industry. With over 110 escape rooms played, I've experienced escape rooms from every angle — as a first-time guest, a returning enthusiast, and someone who studies how they're designed, run, and felt by players.
During my time at Escape This Frederick, I collaborated on building and designing custom escape rooms, engineered Arduino-based puzzle hardware, and built their website from scratch. I later built the website for Level Up VR as well. Through that work, I kept running into the same problem: the escape room software running these games was treated as an afterthought — clunky, unreliable, or simply missing.
That frustration became Escape Director. What started at Mount St. Mary's University has grown into a platform shaped by years of real operational experience. My goal is to give business owners the tools and data they need to run better games and create unforgettable moments for every guest.
