By creating an account or using Escape Director (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service.
Escape Director is a cloud-based escape room management platform that provides operators and game masters with tools to manage rooms, clues, puzzles, multimedia assets, game sessions, and performance analytics. The Service is accessed via a web browser and is intended for use by escape room businesses and their staff.
You must register for an account to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Escape Director reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, may harm the Service or other users.
Escape Director offers a subscription-based service. After a 30-day free trial, continued use of the Service requires a paid subscription. Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All payments are processed securely by Stripe. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings; you will retain access through the end of your current billing period. Because we offer a full 30-day free trial before any charge is made, Escape Director does not provide refunds after a subscription charge has processed. If you believe there has been an error or have extenuating circumstances, please contact us at matthew@escapedirector.com and we will do our best to resolve the situation.
New users are eligible for a single 30-day free trial. A valid credit card is required to activate the trial; it is held securely by Stripe but will not be charged until the 30-day trial period ends. If you cancel before the trial ends, no charge will be made. At the end of the trial period, your card on file will be automatically billed for the selected subscription plan. Escape Director reserves the right to modify or discontinue the free trial offer at any time.
You agree not to misuse the Service. Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to: attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying systems; interfering with or disrupting the integrity or performance of the Service; using the Service to transmit harmful, illegal, or offensive content; scraping, reverse engineering, or reproducing any part of the Service without written permission; or using the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including but not limited to software, text, graphics, logos, and icons — are the exclusive property of Escape Director and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service solely for your internal business purposes. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use Escape Director's name, trademarks, or branding without prior written consent.
You retain ownership of any content you upload to the Service, including room configurations, media files, and game data ("Your Content"). By uploading Your Content, you grant Escape Director a limited license to store, display, and transmit Your Content solely as necessary to provide the Service to you. We will not share, sell, or use Your Content for any purpose other than operating the Service.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support or using the account settings. Escape Director may suspend or terminate your access at any time if we determine you have violated these Terms, or for any other reason with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your right to access the Service will immediately cease. We may retain your data for a limited period as described in our Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Escape Director does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Escape Director disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Escape Director and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total cumulative liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Maryland, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in such courts.
Escape Director reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
